Atridox fights gum disease at the source
|
|
Periodontal disease causes swollen, tender gums that are uncomfortable and bleed easily,
but a new treatment for this scourge of modern mouths shows great promise. Atridox -
a liquid antibiotic being tested by Atrix Labs - is designed to destroy the bacteria
that live in the plaque and tartar of those suffering from periodontal disease.
Atridox gel contains the antibiotic doxycycline, which has been proven to kill the bacteria
that cause gum disease. The liquid antibiotic is applied
|
to the infected area, where it
hardens.
Over the next week or so, the solidified gel releases the antibiotic to continually
destroy bacteria. Then the Atridox breakd down until it disappears completely.
For those with significant amounts of tartar, root scaling and planing may still
be crucial to treatment. But, in less serious cases, Atridox could be the key to
ridding gums of periodontal disease.

Why consider an implant?
|
|
The simple answer is that dental implants were developed to provide
effective replacement for missing teeth...and it's important to
replace any missing tooth.
Besides causing potential discomfort and embarrassment, gaps caused by
missing teeth can also lead to further dental problems - including
tooth decay, gum disease, bone damage, or TMJ disorder.
In addition, dental implants won't slip or cause discomfort as dentures
sometimes do.
|
They allow you to eat more comfortably; they don't have to
be removed at night; and they're especially natural looking.
If you're missing one or more teeth because of injury, gum disease, decay, or any
other cause ... or if you're having problems with a full or partial denture ... you
may find that dental implants are worth considering.
